Day Two

Many took the free morning as a chance to shop in Buenos Aires! Some looking for leather, some for horse “things” but many returned to the hotel around lunch time with lots of bags and happy smiles!

Today we left the big city and traveled northwest for 2 hours to the small town of San Antonio de Areco (our home for the next six nights). We will make daily visits to private estancias and carriage collections in the area before enjoying the Gaucho Festival this coming weekend.

Our home for the next few days is the Patio de Moreno, right in the heart of San Antonio de Areco. This old and traditional town has small independent shops, many of which are silversmiths. No building can go above two stories here and so it has retained all of its charm. There are several town squares, outdoor cafes and many local restaurants (which we will sample every night this week!).
